Where is the best place to stay during race weekend?

The Doubletree by Hilton is the Official Hotel of the Real Racine International Triathlon. A full list of hotels are listed on our travel page.

Where do I park on race morning?

Participants will find ample parking at the designated parking area two blocks from North Beach Park. Parking is $15.00 per vehicle and benefits a local charity. There is street parking in downtown Racine but this will be limited in areas on or near the courses.

Do I have to rack my bike on Saturday?

YES. You are required to rack your bike from Noon to 9:00pm on Saturday at transition at North Beach Park. No bikes will be allowed in or out of transition without a bike number and corresponding wristband. Transition security will be provided from the start of bike check-in until all bikes have exited transition on race morning.

I can't swim (or prefer not to), can I participate in the triathlon?

Yes. You may team up with two of your buddies and participate on a 3-person relay team (one swimmer, one biker and one runner). We offer relays for all distances.

Is it safe to ride on the bike course?

YES, and obey all traffic laws. Most of the roads have very large shoulders and can be ridden on before race day. However, these roads can be very busy at certain times of the day and precaution is advised.

What if I need to pump up my tires on race morning?

There will be tech support on-site at the transition area with several dozen pumps to use on race morning. If your wheels use a special adapter please be sure to bring that with you on race morning.

What is the expected water temperature in Lake Michigan in July?

The water temperature will be in the low 60s to mid-70s depending on the weather proceeding the event. Wetsuits will be allowed if under 78 degrees for age group participants and if under 72 degrees for professionals.

Do I have to wear a swim cap?

Yes, all participants will be issued an official race swim cap designated for your race distance and it MUST be worn during the entire swim portion of the race.

Will I be able to do a swim warm-up before I start?

Yes, anytime before your swim start outside of the actual swim course.

Can I transfer my entry to the following year if I can’t make it this year?

Real Racine International Triathlon has a NO REFUND and NO TRANSFER policy.

However, Real Racine International Triathlon will offer a 50 percent discount into the Real Racine International Triathlon for the following year for cancellations made at least 21 days prior to the event.

Upon canceling from the event at least 21 days prior to the event date, the 50% credit will be added to your registration account for the following year’s entry fee.

Cancellations within 21 days of the event date will not receive a credit.

Can a friend or family member pick up my race packet?

NO — only you and you must bring a valid ID and your USA Triathlon membership card (if you are a member).

Are there aid stations on the course?

There will be NO aid stations on any of the bike. On the run course there will be water, ice and Gatorade at approximately every mile of the course. Please prepare accordingly.
